Plexiclean SD Graffiti Remover

Plexiclean SD Graffiti Remover

Graffiti can quickly affect the appearance of noise barriers, bus shelters, signs and other acrylic installations. However, removing it with the wrong cleaner can cause even more damage.

Strong petroleum-based solvents may cloud, craze or permanently mark acrylic. That is why graffiti on acrylic needs a purpose-designed product—not simply the strongest solvent available.

Plexiclean SD Graffiti Remover combines powerful cleaning performance with a formulation developed specifically for PLEXIGLAS® acrylic and other hard, non-absorbent surfaces.

What Is Plexiclean SD?

Plexiclean SD is a specialist cleaner designed to remove graffiti caused by a range of aerosol paints. It is particularly suited to PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop noise barriers, where maintaining transparency and surface quality is important.

Unlike many conventional graffiti removers, Plexiclean SD uses a 100% biocarbon-based solvent system. It is also biodegradable, non-hazardous, water-dispersible and non-flammable, providing a more practical alternative to traditional hazardous solvents.

Why Acrylic Needs a Specialist Graffiti Remover

Acrylic is durable and weather-resistant, but it can be sensitive to certain chemicals. A cleaner that works well on concrete, brick or metal may not be suitable for an acrylic panel.

Incompatible solvents can cause:

  • Clouding or loss of transparency
  • Fine surface cracks known as crazing
  • Discolouration
  • Permanent surface damage
  • Reduced service life

Where Can Plexiclean SD Be Used?

  • Roadside noise barriers
  • Bus stops and transport facilities
  • Railway infrastructure
  • Schools and universities
  • Council and community facilities
  • Sporting venues
  • Commercial buildings
  • Clear acrylic signs and displays
  • Other compatible hard, non-absorbent surfaces

How to Use Plexiclean SD

Always read the product instructions and Safety Data Sheet before use. Testing the cleaner on a small, inconspicuous area first is also recommended.

A typical cleaning process involves:

  1. Place cardboard, absorbent material or rags beneath the area to collect drips and loosened paint.
  2. Apply Plexiclean SD directly to the affected surface.
  3. Allow the product time to work according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  4. Use a plastic paint scraper and clean rags to carefully lift and wipe away the graffiti.
  5. Repeat the process if necessary.
  6. Collect all residue and prevent the cleaner or removed paint from entering drains, soil or waterways.

For larger or difficult-to-reach areas, a garden-style hand pump sprayer may be used. A pressure cleaner may also help with final removal where appropriate. Plastral

Avoid metal scrapers and harsh abrasive pads, as these may scratch the acrylic.
